How much does ProTaxPro cost?
We offer flexible pricing plans built to scale with your business volume—including a way to start for $0 out-of-pocket today. Plan Pricing & Details Pay As You Go starts at $179 (includes 20 return units; $14.95 each after). Unlimited starts at $689 (includes unlimited 1040 returns and all states). Multi-Office & Service Bureau Custom pricing available on request for high-volume firms. Note: E-filing is 100% free across all plans. A transmitter fee is applied depending on your specific plan configuration.
Is it really cloud-based? Do I install anything?
Nothing to install. ProTaxPro runs in a web browser on any device, with automatic real-time updates, so there are no downloads and no manual updates. It works the same for remote preparers and in-office teams.
What is a return unit?
Each Unit can be used for one federal return, one state return, one extension, or one amendment. A W-2 or 1099 is 0.25 units, complete 5 information filings with one unit. Business returns (Forms 1065, 1120, 1120-S) use two units each. Please note: Return units must be purchased for the specific tax year you're working on and cannot be transferred between years.
Can I prepare business returns?
Yes. Business returns are included with all Unlimited Developer Edition packages and can also be added to other plans for an additional fee. Supported business returns include Forms 1065, 1120, and 1120-S and California state forms 565, 568, 541, 100, and 100S.
Does it work for multiple offices?
Yes, our software fully supports multiple offices. Each location can operate independently under its own Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN).

Furthermore, we offer developer, reseller, and private-label options tailored specifically for growing practices, multi-site firms and service bureaus looking to scale their operations.
Do you support bank products?
Yes, through partners including EPS, Santa Barbara TPG (SBTPG), Refund Advantage, and Refundo. Refund transfer products and advance loans are offered at the discretion of the bank. A transmitter fee applies when offering bank products, starting at $21.95. Confirm the current rate at checkout.
